Procedure 1: Arm being examined is in lateral rotation, flexion and abduction. Ask the patient to reach behind his or her head and touch the superior medial angle of the opposite scapula
Indications: Combined movement pattern to examine for decreased length of internal rotators and adductors.
Procedure 2: Arm being examined is in medial rotation, extension and abduction. Ask the patient to reach behind his or her back and touch the inferior angle of the opposite scapula
Indications: Combined movement pattern to examine for decreased length of external rotators and abductors.
Positive: Document the level of thoracic vertebrae reached.
